A new DT and a new kit.

Happy easter everyone! Wow, well I have made my first 2 Design Team layouts for the new website www.whataboutme.ning.com – all about scrapping for yourself – something that I just don’t do and need to be encouraged so I was motivated to join this site.  Aside from that, been having fun scrapping, seeing as the kids are all sick and I’m house-bound atm.

First cab off the rank, a Websters page (of course) LOL. My favourite company.

Idea 74: Make a 3-layered flower from leaf petal shapes (& I made the leaves/branch too).

The paper from Cosmo Cricket Material girl was just perfect for this one.

Idea 75: Cover the border of the cardstock with paper then spray Glimmermist over the centre, then stitch around the edge of the spray to make a border. I also sprayed the flowers with Glimmermist just a little.

Idea 75: Di-sect the flowers to make them stretch further and get different sizes.

Idea 76: Sand the journalling tag to get a whiter background and match the page better.

This next layout, I kept simple because the Sassafrass Lass Cherry Delicious stickers are so busy.

Idea 77: Cut a cardstock circle out then stitch it to the page to create a neutral background to a potentially busy page.

And here’s my DT kit for this month.

Prima STRAWBERRY KISSES and Maya Road trim/lace.

Little Yellow Bicycle CLOTHESLINE papers and chipboard sticker words.

BG Kioshi (oops – forgot to photograph these before I used then).

Bo Bunny MAMMA RAZZI.

I used the PRIMA for my STEP X STEP at Annas this month – here’s a little sneaky. Keep watching the Annas blog over the next few weeks for full instructions.

The last of my DT kit

These are the last layouts I could squeeze out of my kit this month and I had a lot of fun with it.  Still managing to do something new that I haven’t tried before on all my pages (at least I think I have).

I absolutely LOVE the new MAYA ROAD stuff including these clock rub-ons.

Idea 21: Stitching a grid in white then dragging an ink pad across it.

I wanted to make something special of these Kasier Drawers so I made a triangular brace for the top and decorated it with Collections chipboard pieces and Bella Blvd PLASTINO stickers. (I also used PLASTINO papers).

This My Little Shoebox TANISHA paper was a perfect match for the girls inflatable ring in these bright, fun photos.

Idea 22: Use strips of scallops across the centre of the page and use buttons as bubbles.

Idea 23: Draw a different border with 2 off-set lines of different lengths.

I’ve started making sketches to model my pages from because I often get an idea and then forget it when I’m ready to scrap or I get too many ideas at once. This one I used for the above layout.  Please check out my new SKETCHES page as I add more.

This one uses some of the Basic Grey SUAGR RUSH pp as well as the PLASTINO Bella Blvd pps.

Idea 24: Under-paint the lamp-post and cut a hole in the pp, draw inside it and embellish in the hole.

Idea 25: Cut a circle of scrap paper out then stamped over the top of it with several stamps leaving the centre blank, then I drew the circle edge.

DT stuff plus more

I’m still having much more fun with my pages & projects now that I have slowed down and stopped rushing.  Came up with this idea a while ago but only finished it the other day.

It takes pride of place above my China cabinet and holds our spare keys.

The little houses were fun to do – I got them from Annas Craft cupboard. The butterflies were sprayed with demin glimmermist – isn’t it a stunning effect.

This was my take on the Feb sketch from Annas. I just mirrored it & I used BG Sugar Rush pps and stickers – really loved them.

Idea 18: Fasten ribbon with brads.

And a couple more from my DT kit.  This one (above) uses Pink Paislee Vintage moon pp as the background with BG Sugar Rush stickers. Very easy but effective I think.

Idea 19: Dab paint around chipboard edges (bird)

And another one using Bella Blvd PLASTINO pps and stickers.

Idea 20: Handstitching & using geometric shapes/design.

Feb DT layouts & a journal

Anna sent me an OTP Kaiser Journal this month for something a little different, so I wanted to make good use of it.  I find that sometimes I want to tell my kids something special but don’t want to make a layout about it cos its over-kill. So now I have somewhere to put those little messages that they can read themselves when they are older – a keepsake.

Each tab is the title page that starts a section for each of my girls. (I haven’t finished them quite though – well, I had finished them but someone spilt water on the table & ruined them – not impressed!) I used Kaiser ‘ Made with Love’ range.

Edited: Ok, noooowww I’m finished…. nothing too fancy though.

Idea 10: Use glimmermist as a base for a journalling spot.

Also did some simple layouts also with Kaiser & BG Sugar rush.

Idea 11: title over photos

Idea 12:  paint on the photo edges to give a soft look.

Idea 13: ink across the foam thickers to give a soft appearance.

Idea 14: paint and stamp on the chipboard french flourish.

Idea 15: Spray glimmermist over the title then move it across like a shadow.

Idea 16: Stitch on the photo and overlap the photos. Add a button to the clouds. Hand-draw a fancy page border.

This one was my step x step page for Annas blog. Its the first time I’ve made the rosettes and they seem to be quite popular atm.

Idea 17: Make flowers from nested circles. Hack the edges.

And here’s the new Sketch competition for February – its a $40 voucher! Wish I could enter (LOL).

Layouts & February DT kit

Lately I feel like I’ve been rushing my pages a bit and that means I’m not always that happy with the results, so I’m slowing down, maybe just doing one page in a day, not three. I’m much happier with these.

This one is the first from my February DT kit that just arrived.

Idea 7: Make the butterfly 3D and use glitter on it

Idea 8: Stitch a double-border, off-setting one.

Idea 9: Use mini tags for the journalling.

Here’s my kit from Anna’s Craft Cupboard for this month – beautiful as always.

Basic Grey – Sugar Rush

Bella Blvd – Plastino

Kaiser – Made with Love
